Let’s Take A Closer Look

Appli-Stitch Tool

Appli-Stitch is the most exciting embroidery innovation in a decade! It removes the fear factor from applique, making it easy to add fantasy and fun to embroidery creations. This revolutionary process eliminates all cutting from the applique process. You will LOVE both the texture and dimension of this amazing new material and how easy it is to work with.

If you have not had the opportunity to see this amazing process make sure you visit the website www.appli-stitch.com. Also, make sure to check out the video that shows you how to use Appli-Stitch fabric and designs. You can find this video at the following url:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj6THiuOw5w&feature=youtu.be.

You will love how easy it is to work with the Appli-Stitch material. With this new and exciting software update we have made creating your own custom Appli-Stitch designs just as easy as working with the material itself. We are pleased to give you the new Appli-Stitch tool!!!

The Appli-Stitch tool takes all the guesswork out of creating Appli-Stitch designs. You simply select the Appli-Stitch tool, trace the parameter of the Appli-Stitch design, and apply the Appli-Stitch and the software does the rest!!! It is as easy as creating a run stitch inside your software. The software will automatically create your placement stitch, trapping stitch, and satin stitch border needed to perforate the Appli-Stitch material.

Here is what the Appli-Stitch tool looks like and where it is located in the software:

We have done all we can to make this process as simple as possible so EVERYONE can create their own custom Appli-Stitch designs. But, we do know that many of you will want to create your own, intricate master pieces. Because this may take some additional customization, we have given you TOTAL CONTROL over the entire Appli-Stitch process.

Whenever you have an Appli-Stitch design selected, you will notice that your properties box will display the available settings for the process. So, you can customize until your heart is content. We do recommend that you keep the density of your satin stitch border between 0.27mm and 0.30mm and that you keep the box checked for the "Trapping line." These two things are extremely important.

To use your new Appli-Stitch tool, simply follow these steps:

  1. 1.

    Select the Appli-Stitch Tool
  2. 2.

Create your Appli-Stitch by tracing around the parameter of the Appli-Stitch portion of your design.
    • a.

To do this, simply left mouse click to plot points around the parameter (for curve paths, hold down "Ctrl" while left mouse clicking)
  3. 3.

When you make it all around the design, right mouse click to set your stitches.

It couldn't be easier to create Appli-Stitch designs!!!

Make sure you visit your Floriani Dealer so you can pick up some of the Appli-Stitch fabric for your custom designs. While there, ask about the available design sets!

For a description of each box inside your Appli-Stitch properties box, please see the bottom of this document.

Numbered Sequence View

Do you edit or resequence your designs much? If you do, you will really appreciate the updated "Sequence View" window. In this update we added two new features. First, we created an Index section that numbers each object in your design. Second, in the Stitches section we now allow you to view how many stitches each object uses.

This works great for when you need to change the order of an object in your sequence view. Before, it could be frustrating trying to move objects around because there was no frame of reference for the objects. Now, with the Index feature you know have your reference point. For example, this makes moving object 126 below object 34 very easy!!! This was a challenge before today.

Here is what the updated sequence view now looks like (new features are highlighted):

Below is some detailed information
About the Appli-Stitch Tool

Appli-Stitch Properties Box

  • A.

Width (mm) - width of Appli-Stitch border
  • B.

Stitch length (mm) - stitch length used in the placement line, tack down line, and trapping line.
  • C.

Density (mm) - density used for the satin stitch border.
  • D.

Inset % - is the amount of offset used for the border stitch.  50% is default and means that the border stitch falls 50% to the left of the input line and 50% to the right of the input line.  If put a value of 25% this would create the border stitch so that 25% of width lies on one side of the input line and 75% of the width lies on the other side of the input line.
  • E.

Angle (-10....10) - will angle the stitch negative 10 to positive 10 percent.  The default is 0 meaning there is no angle to the border stitch other than before or after a corner.
  • F.

Corner type - this represents the type of cornering that will take place for the border stitch.  Choosing "Square" from the drop down box will square off the ends in a block style when the degree of an angle/corner is less than the input amount for the "Activation angle <" (letter G).  Choosing "Extended" from the drop down box will extend the edge to a point when the degree of an angle/corner is less than the input amount for the "Activation angle <" (letter G).
  • G.

Activation angle - is the angle at which the software will either square off (Corner type = Square) or form a point (Corner Type = Extended) when dealing with a curve/angle.
  • H.

Placement line - is a run stitch outline in the size of Appli-Stitch material that will be used.
  • I.

Tack down line - is a run stitch line that tacks the material to the garment to help prevent it from shifting while the border stitch is sewing out.
  • J.

Trapping line - is a run stitch line that lies just inside the satin border stitch that is used to prevent the material from tearing out from the inside of the border stitch.  Without this stitch, the inner portion of the material will tear out.  (See image of "T" above to see what this stitch looks like - "j")
  • K.

Adjust holes - when there is a cutout or hole in the middle of the design, checking this box will ensure those inner sections sew out correctly.
  • L.

Placement offset % - the default value is "0" for Appli-Stitch.  If you place a value other than zero in this box it will offset the placement stitch, meaning it will indent the placement line or make it extend outward from the original position.
  • M.

Tack down offset % - the default value is "0" for Appli-Stitch.  If you place a value other than zero in this box it will offset the tack down stitch, meaning it will indent the tack down line or make it extend outward from the original position.
  • N.

Trapping offset (mm) - is the amount the trapping stitch is indented from the placement line.  The default value is 2.0.  This line needs to be a minimum of 1.0mm from the inner edge of the border stitch.
